Class 2 Digital Signature:

Class 2 DSC is the most popular DSC. Income tax return(ITR), Company registration, Annual compliance filling, GST filling are some major uses of Class 2 DSC. Employee Provident Fund, ESI, MCA portal, Net banking etc accept this DSC. Because of this, it is the most popular among all DSC. Class 2 DSC is available in two variants. 1st: Sign only and 2nd: Sign with Encryption.Sign with Encryption DSC contains two certificates. Therefore, it is also known as Combo DSC. It is superior to Sign only DSC. It can also be used in all places as mentioned above. Apart from this, it has some extra uses, like Trademark filling, Logo registration, contractor’s e-tender filling etc.

Class 3 Digital Signature:

Class 3 DSC is also available in two variant. Sign only and Class 3 Sign with Encrypt. The former is very rarely used. Later is used for e-Tender and e-Auction purpose. Class 3 Sign with Encrypt DSC can be used in place of any other DSC. Because it is the highest class of DSC.

DGFT Digital Signature:

This is a very unique type of DSC. Director-General of Foreign Trade portal requires this DSC for all transaction. Because this DSC is mandatory to authorise Import Export transactions. Applicant must poses a valid import-export code(IEC) in order to apply this DSC.

Document Signer:

Document Signer is used for digitally signing documents, emails in bulk quantity. Therefore, automation software prefers it. Document signer is the only option for signing a large number of emails, documents or invoices.

Foreigner Digital Signature:

Class 2 DSC used for MCA 21, ROC, E-filing of  TDS returns, Sales Tax and Income Tax Returns. Class 3 digital Signature Certificate used of e-Tendering or e-Procurements on IRCTC, OFB, GAIL, IFFCO, NTPC, HCPL, Indian Railways, etc. DGFT used for EXIM, As e-filing is made compulsory in ROC, every director / signing authority needs to have their Digital Signature. Its now mandatory to obtain Class-2 or Class-2 with PAN encryption Digital Signature for any person who is required to sign manual documents and returns filed with ROC as per MCA21. Also an Individual is required to obtain Class-2 DSC with PAN Encryption for e-filing his return with Income Tax, India.
